GO Guildwood Station

Scarborough, Ontario

2014 - 2019

As part of an initiative by GO Transit to strengthen and renew the visual identities of their local stations, this LEED Silver certified project includes a new arrival building, platform shelters and pedestrian open spaces at an existing station on their Lakeshore East line.

A simple linear composition comprising station building, plaza, and tunnel access pavilions occupies the narrow interstitial space between an existing parking lot and the bermed rail corridor. The station's steel framed roof and canopy, lined in wood, establishes a strong horizontal datum against the site's slope, punctuated by an illuminated elevator tower. In contrast, the internal staff spaces, tunnel entry structures and utility rooms are built into the berm.
