New building to house $50 million computer and communications equipment for the control of the entire Toronto public transit system. Focal area of the building will be a 33 metre diameter clear span NASA-like control theatre. The building will be highly secure and will incorporate back-ups and redundancies for 24-hour, 365-days-a-year fail-safe operation. The Acres/Macro Joint Venture are prime consultants responsible for the systems and building engineering design. Rounthwaite, Dick & Hadley are responsible for all architectural services including design, construction documents, field review, and contract administration.
