Pearson International Airport, Mississauga, Canada The entire project was implemented through a leaseback arrangement between the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) and FedEx. The GTAA, in the role of the developer, provided both the land and the funding for the entire project that was phase tendered for construction, which in turn was leased to FedEx, the prime tenant. As prime consultant, Rounthwaite, Dick & Hadley in association with Glenn Piotrowski Architect successfully addressed the divergent needs of both the developer and the tenant. The firm's core competence in design and technical excellence, as well as adept project mangement capabilities, addressed the complex functional and schedule requirements of FedEx as well as adherence to GTAA's firm budget and quality concerns. The massive Sort Building contains miles of sophisticated sorting equipment, storage and loading facilities for 16 transport trucks, & 7,000m2 of offices for customer services, administration, and a controls area. Other components of the development of the 47-acre site include the construction of a new ramp and an airside apron capable of accommodating 9 wide body aircraft.
