project description:

Pearson International Airport, Mississauga, Canada RDH in Association with Acres-Parsons Birkenhoff, designed and oversaw the construction of this Central Utilities Plant. The primary purpose of the facility is to generate hot and chilled water for HVAC and domestic purposes to serve the reconstructed airport facilities. Pipe tunnels and a bridge across Highway 409 will serve to route the services to the airport. The building houses boilers and chillers, water treatment equipment, and associated pumps, control equipment and electrical services. The equipment within the building are located almost entirely in open plant areas at the Ground Floor and the Mezzanine. Offices, meeting rooms, locker rooms, lunch facilities, and a Control Room are located at the Ground Floor and Mezzanine levels at the southeast corner of the building. The building is designed using National Building Code requirements for fire protection and life safety and was undertaken in a Construction Management Procurement contract.
