Ryerson University, Toronto
Rounthwaite, Dick & Hadley and its associated firm, Lett/Smith Architects, are currently designing this high profile project at Ryerson University. The Faculty of Continuing Education serves more than 45,000 adult students with 1,000 courses and 71 certificate programs, many in advanced Information Technology designations, and multiple community-based education programs. The building will support Continuing Education delivery through Distance Education (including broadcast facilities), on-campus courses, and off-site programs for corporate clients. Program elements include computer labs, training rooms, presentation rooms, Distance Education production suite, conference facilities, resource centre, and instructors' touchdown area. The design has been developed to maximize transparency, thus to be expressive of the idea of a "virtual campus", and to reinforce the profile of the faculty to its corporate partners.
