Township of Wellington Rounthwaite, Dick & Hadley were recently selected to design a major expansion and rehabilitation of the Fergus Community Centre for the Township of Centre Wellington. The existing Fergus Community Centre was built in two phases during the 1970's and the early 1980's. Existing program elements include a 1000 seat arena, a large community hall, an exercise facility, and recreation offices. The addition will include a new arena, aquatic centre and expanded exercise and aerobics facilities. The new ice pad will be 85' x 190' and will have four regular change rooms and a gender neutral change-room, cold viewing for 200 spectators, and an elevated warm viewing area that looks directly through the dashboard glass onto the new ice surface. In addition to the new main program components, the rehabilitated facility will include a new central interior street that will connect all of the new and existing program components, new concessions facility, 2 new meeting rooms, new administration facilities. The aquatic centre includes a six lane 25m main pool, a one storey slide and splash down pool, a leisure pool with water spray feature and a whirlpool. The expanded exercise facilities include a new aerobics room with sprung floor and an expanded fitness centre.
